Booked a stay here due to reviews by others, thank you very much! Excellent accommodation in a perfect location and at a price that was surprisingly affordable. All of which contributed to making this the highlight of a five week trip in France. Cannot recommend it highly enough, this place is a must.
We came across RDT quite by chance....having missed our turn off "up the hill" in Mont Genevre. We wandered the streets of the "walled City" of Briancon and found a board advertising accomodation. Inside we met Helen who was the most charming of hosts. She had us hooked immediately. A perfect apartment upstairs from the bar/restaurant right in the heart of this picture perfect place. We stayed 2 nights exploring the nearby walks etc before heading back to Mont Genevre. En route back to Avignon we couldn't help but spend one more night enjoying Helens hospitality. This women and her team are exceptional and the accomodation couldn't be faulted. Our next trip/stay is already being planned. So to Helen & team we say thank you. You truly made a difference to our trip.
What a great place. We just happened upon this town after driving from Lake Como that day. We got really lucky with both the hotel and the dinner we had at Duo Restaurant and Bar.
The hotel is quite newly remodeled and very comfortable. The lighting is a little bright, but we grabbed a lamp from the bedroom and put it in the living room during our stay. The room has a full kitchen which we did not get to use, but it appeared to be chef ready.
The shower was especially nice and we enjoyed the lavender soap that was provided. We extended our stay to 2 night because we liked the place so much and the surrounding ruins are quite interesting to hike around. We had one of our dining highlights in Briancon at Duo Restaurant. Thomas and Richard (the duo in Duo) have created a charming culinary delight in the French Alpes. It was slow both nights we went, and we had lots of time to take with Thomas who was one of the most gracious restaurant owners I have ever met. The food and the wine and the ambiance were simply fantastic. And if you have a little extra time before or after dinner, go downstairs and have a drink with Sylvain at Duo Bar. He is a sweetheart of a guy. He let me use his computer to check my email two nights in a row! He plays great music and the atmosphere is very cool.
We stayed here on the evening of our engagement and were given a great welcome by the team. Fortunately, being Brits saved us having to break out the GCSE French! The apartment has all of the facilities you'd need, and we dined also in the restaurant below which was just the job. thanks to the team for a lovely stay!
Myself and a group of friends stayed in the newly refurbished Residence Du Temple in Jan 10. Residence is in the walled old town which is pretty and atmospheric. Rooms are apartments, with kitchen and seating area, compact, clean and modern. Breakfast and dinner were excellent also.
